These Seniors Start Year on ‘Kairos Time’ — and Why You Should Too

The first of six sessions of the renowned faith retreat Kairos kicked off this May for the Class of 2024, when 39 Gibbons Seniors spent three days and two nights at the Short Journey Retreat Center.

The word Kairos directly translates to “the Lord’s Time,” which is exactly what these students participated in.

This retreat provides a safe space for seniors to learn more about themselves, their relationship with God, and how they interact with the world around them. What better time to participate in a retreat that brings the faith in our hearts to light than a time of transition like Senior Year?

What changes have you noticed in your faith since attending Kairos?

“Since attending Kairos, not only have I strengthened my faith, but I have also embraced it and been more proud of it.” –Kambrie Murphy, Class of 2024

How did the environment of the retreat foster new friendships?

“The opportunities that we had to meet and connect with new people made the retreat really feel like a big family, and helped me find relationships that last beyond senior year.” –Jackson Hatch, Class of 2024

What would you tell the Seniors and underclassmen who haven’t been on Kairos yet to encourage attendance?

“Kairos was one of the top five moments of my life and it felt life changing. If you have the opportunity, I encourage everyone to go. You will not regret it!” –Kambrie Murphy, Class of 2024
