On Tuesday, Gibbons hosted the annual Military Reintegration Ceremony. Led by college counselor Dean Wright, the morning honored senior students who have either chosen to attend a U.S. military academy, are accepting a ROTC scholarship, or are enlisting.
Four students were recognized for their commitment to serve our country. Two will be attending the U.S Naval Academy, Abbie Sevene and Mark White, and the other two will be doing Reserve Officers’ Training Corps or ROTC, Roland DeRonja at North Carolina State University, and John Wilson through East Carolina University.
“We just think it’s a big step and it’s a great thing for them to do to serve our country, so we want to recognize them,” said Wright.
For the past decade, the ceremony has been held to give these students the recognition they deserve for this big step they are taking. Wright was allowed to coordinate this event.
“When I first came here four years ago, I learned that we held a ceremony for it, and I expressed interest in it, and I was able to take it over,” Wright said.
Coming together as one community, the Gibbons Military Recognition ceremony continues to honor and celebrate the seniors taking a big step to serve our country.
