Lacrosse Moves on to Fourth Round with Semi-Finals Looming

The lacrosse teams found big opportunities to beat in-conference opponents again. This time they will be headed in different directions for the fourth round. While the No. 1 seed boys will host the No. 4 seed Ashley on Friday, the No. 4 seed girls will travel to the No. 1 seed New Hanover on Friday.

The girls team was on a mission on Tuesday beating Wake Forest 21-6 before the boys team took the field after and beat Heritage 18-0.

In the girls game, senior Jane Bailey Ward could not miss as she scored nine goals leading Gibbons and outscoring Wake Forest singlehandedly. Ward and Ryan Lish both led the team with three ground balls a piece.

In the boys game, the gameplan was executed perfectly and there was no question about whether Gibbons was in control. Josh Vining led the team in scoring with a hat trick.

The boys and girls teams will have to dig deep against these beach teams in the next round to earn a spot in the semi-finals.
