The baseball team won a nailbiter of a game in the third round against Cleveland. The Crusaders won 7-6 in a rematch of the first game of the season that did not disappoint.
The Crusaders came out to a 5-0 lead in the second inning, but Cleveland began to chip away at the lead after tying it in the fifth. With two runs in the sixth inning for the Crusaders, they did not look back and only gave up one more run in the seventh.
Bryce Fitzsimmons earned the win on the mound and hit a home run in the game. It is performances like these that are putting the Crusaders on state championship watch.
On Friday the team will travel to play the No. 2 see South Central for a shot in the state semi-finals. The winner of this game will play the winner of D.H. Conley and Holly Springs, both teams which the boys have gone (1-1) against this season. This fourth round matchup will not disappoint and the boys will need all of the support they can get on Friday.
