Track and Field Heads to the State Championships with Big Aspirations

The Track and Field team has been breaking records all year while still staying consistent all around. With some of the top runners in the state it will be hard not to notice Gibbons as a contender for some state championships all throughout the track and field events. Track and Field regionals took place at Heritage High School on May 9.

At regionals, Xavier Hasan won the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash. Kaitlyn Estep won the 800 meter dash and the 1600 meter dash. The girls 4×400 team won their event by less than a second. Tessa Kranick won the pole vault event by over a foot and a half.

With all of these top finished at regionals, be on the lookout for Gibbons runners at the top of the standings at the state championships

The state championship will then take place on May 15 at the Marcus T. Johnson Track at North Carolina A&T University.
