A shutout is one great way to begin the playoffs and win their first playoff game since 2015. The Crusaders beat the No. 23 seed Garner Trojans 12-0 in order to move on to play the No. 7 seed South Central High School.
Sophomore pitcher Sophie Cygnarowicz pitched five innings, threw five strikeouts, and allowed zero runs. Junior Katie Scavone hit a home run which was her third of the year.
In what was an extremely exciting game, the girls hope they can continue this playoff run and mark their names in the history books forever.
The second round game will take place on Friday at South Central High School. The winner of this game will take on the winner of Lumberton and New Bern on Tuesday.
