Callie Swanson Breaks Historic School Record

Senior Callie Swanson has etched her name in the track and field record books at Cardinal Gibbons.

On April 11 at the Panther Invite, Swanson ran the 400 meters in a blazing 55.86 seconds. This time was nearly half a second faster than Shawnti Jackson’s 56.16 seconds from 2021.

Jackson, who was at Gibbons as a sophomore before transferring to Wakefield and then South Granville, is now starring at LSU.

This came just months after another school record Swanson set, this one in the 300-meter run. On Feb. 18 at the N.C. High School Athletic Association 7A Indoor Track Championships in the 300 meters, Swanson finished with a time of 39.37 seconds, competing with top times at that meet.

Following her signing with Elon this winter, Swanson will keep her sights set high, looking to finish her high school track and field career strong.
