Hasan and DeLuca Break Track & Field Records

Two new records have been set for track and field at Cardinal Gibbons. In the past two weeks, two different athletes have etched their name atop the leaderboards for their respective events.

At the Panther Invite on April 11, senior Dominic DeLuca set a program record in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 39.02 seconds. DeLuca’s time broke the previous record by over 1.5 seconds, which was set by Nicholas York in 2023.

During a weekday meet on April 16, junior Xavier Hasan set program records in two different events. Hasan ran a 10.68 in the 100-meter run, topping the previous record by 0.04 seconds. He went on to also break the record in the 200-meter run, with a time of 21.92. Hasan broke this record by an equally small margin, this time by 0.03 seconds.

As the state championships approach, both athletes will look to build off of their success from this season.
