The softball team after first win of the 2023 season

During this 2023 season, the Cardinal Gibbons women’s softball team works hard to win, play the best they can, and have fun.

An interview with Varsity players Layce Chappel and Avery Robinson informs us of how the team is preparing for this upcoming season and what the team’s goals are. In addition, some of their favorite things they enjoy about being on the team.

When asked what Layce and Avery’s favorite part of being on the team is, they said, “The sisterhood of the girls is my favorite part about being on the team.” “I like all of our competitiveness and our team’s drive to be the best we can be.”

The team is preparing for the upcoming season by “working out and learning to bond well with each other.” “We have been focusing on improving our individual skills that can be an asset to the team.”

A part of improving individual growth is setting goals for yourself. Layce says, “My personal goals are to be a great teammate and stay positive throughout the whole season.” Avery mentioned, “I want to get better in the sport but also in my bond with the girls on the team.”

These girls are not only setting personal goals but also goals for the team altogether. Layce adds, “Some goals we have as a team is to encourage each other and work to get better every day.” Avery said, “A goal we have is to stay persistent and push each other in a positive way.”

Participating in sports like softball provides opportunities to learn life skills beyond just athletic abilities. These include valuable experiences with teamwork, time management, and healthy habits that will have long-lasting benefits. These skills are applicable and beneficial in various aspects of life.
