The Repeater is quite an undiscovered gem within the pantheon of the Gibbons’ co-curriculars. The magazine, once yearly and now quarterly, represents the best that some of Gibbons’ student artists have to offer.

During my freshman year, the club was helmed by a group of ambitious sophomores who gave off the energy they knew what there were doing and that we were a part of something important but then came the pandemic which halted the presses for the magazine. It was still printed and you can find it in the library, but (due to my one and only time being a part of the drama world) my name is not in the finished product.

It was really until my junior year when Gibbons and the world regained some semblance of normality that I returned to the Repeater. Only one of those sophomores was still on the staff, and as editor, the club now had a new teacher in charge. The yearly print schedule changed to every few months and the flipbooks were born. Found in the student lounge and library those editions are small collections of art anyone can take and anyone can be a part of.

Now a senior with 8 weeks to go until I leave this chapter behind I wanted to reminisce about this club and learn about other people’s stories.

These people range from Seniors that join on day one, to freshmen and everyone in between.

Amelie Flagler is now the Literary Editor of the magazine and she is only in 9th grade. She helped bring in the Folklore edition and enjoys the creativity that comes with spending time with your friends. Hopefully, her tenure in the magazine continues!

Senior Ben Miranda has contributed for just two years, his favorite edition being Spring 2022’s. Here is what he said about why he likes the club “The Repeater is a laid-back club environment where I can contribute to the publication of art from a variety of mediums with contributors from around the school.”

Even a former contributor, AJ Gebhardt, shared what they’ve enjoyed about the club.

The unpublished Winter Wonderland theme is a favorite topic. Here is what AJ said they enjoyed most “I like to have a prompt and a deadline, it’s nice. I also don’t have much of a way to share my art with the school community so it is a good way to put a print in the concrete.”

The members and staff of the Repeater Arts and Literature Magazine would like to thank the club moderator Mrs. Herche as well as all the students that have submitted their work to the magazine.

The Final Edition of the Repeater for the 2022-2023 school year is now accepting submissions, submit using the QR code below!

“It’s Time to Celebrate! Submit your art and writing to the Repeater for our final issue! This issue will include a “Best of 2022-23” as well as a Senior Spotlight! The theme is celebration!

Submissions must be turned in by April 22nd
