Dancing Into Spring: The Gibbons Spring Dance Concert

Dancing Into Spring: The Gibbons Spring Dance Concert

As spring colors begin to paint our campus, anticipation grows within our Gibbons community for the Spring Dance Concert. Scheduled for shows on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27, this eagerly-awaited event promises to be a captivating spectacle showcasing all of the dance classes’ tireless work over the past months. The show will be 90 minutes in length, running from 4:00-5:30 p.m. and 7:00-9:30 p.m. on both days. With these four performances, there’s ample opportunity for students to come together and show their support.

The theme of the show is “Our Stories.” From modern to tap and ballet to jazz, this array of dance styles will be used to portray unique stories of historical figures or encounters these students have experienced with their peers.

Senior Nikki Blake said each dancer’s movement reflects their chosen story, and each gesture speaks volumes of the passion and commitment driving them as dancers.

“Some of the costumes have to relate to the stories…overall, the movement is what’s the most inspired.”

Blake also reminisced on the countless rehearsals and bonds she’s forged through dance, cherishing the inside jokes she’s made with her fellow dancers. Even though senior dancers prepare to embark on their future college journeys, Blake reflected on how each senior class has shaped the dance team while inspiring new dancers to grow in their skills and reinforce the same bonds they once fostered.

“It’s been really cool connecting with different people over the years and finding myself the way I wouldn’t be able to in a normal classroom.”
