Athletics Recap for March 16-21

Spring sports are in full swing as many teams are well into conference play. With playoffs close to a month away, here is how our teams did last week. 

Baseball

The baseball team is currently on fire with an 8-1 record. Last week the team played two conference games against Felton Grove.

First they played away and captured a 22-0 win. Next they played at home and won 12-2.

This week they will play two more conference games against Holly Springs. The first game will be at home on March 24 and the second game is away on March 27.

Men’s Lacrosse

The men’s lacrosse team is 6-2 thus far into their season having lost to two top teams in the state. The team is back on track after those early losses and have begun conference play.

Last week the team played two home games against conference opponents. On Tuesday they beat Sanderson 18-2. On Friday against Wake Forest they pulled off another 18-2 win.

This week they will play at Cary on March 24, they will play at home against Holly Springs on March 26, and they will play in the Heroes Bowl against Hough at Ballantyne Ridge High School on March 28.

Men’s Tennis

The men’s tennis team is off to an 8-2 record so far staying undefeated in conference. Looking ahead, the team still has more non-conference games to come. 

Last week the team played two conference matches and one non-conference match. On Tuesday, the team traveled to Middle Creek and pulled off a 9-0 win. On Wednesday in a home match versus Sanderson, the team won 7-2. Finally on Friday in another home match, the team beat Hoggard 6-3.

This week the team will play a heavy schedule playing away at Cary on March 23, they will play a doubleheader at Felton Grove on March 25, and a non-conference home match against Grimsley on March 26.

Women’s Lacrosse

The women’s lacrosse team has a 4-2 record thus far after two early losses to out-of-state teams. Besides those two games, the team has only played conference games.

On Tuesday, the team played at home against Sanderson winning 19-0. On Thursday, the team played at Wake Forest winning 15-7. This week the team will face Cary at home on March 24, they will travel to Holly Springs on March 26, and they will face longtime rival Charlotte Catholic on March 28.

Women’s Soccer

The women’s soccer team is off to a huge start as they are undefeated and have knocked off the number one team in the state. The team has had some huge wins and have not looked back.

Last week the team only competed in one game as they beat Heritage 2-1 in a home matchup.

This week the team will compete in two conference matchups. On March 23 they will play Felton Grove at home and on March 25 they will play Holly Springs at home.

Softball

The softball team is off to a 5-2 start as they began conference play last week. From this week and ahead they will only play one more  non-conference game.

On Tuesday, the team played at home against Felton Grove winning 17-2. On Friday they traveled to Felton Grove and picked up a 7-0 win before Felton Grove forfeited.

This week the team will play Holly Springs at home on March 24 and they will play at Holly Springs on March 27.
