With winter sports well into conference play, our teams are preparing to make a push for the playoffs. During the week of Jan. 19, both basketball teams competed in key conference matchups.
Men’s Basketball
The men’s basketball team competed in two games last week. In an out of conference matchup, Gibbons edged Southeast Raleigh by a score of 66-63.
The Crusaders then went on to face Sanderson in another home game. This matchup resulted in another nail biter, with Gibbons losing 64-59. This loss marks only the second of the season for the Crusaders, bringing their record to an impressive 15-2.
Next week, the Crusaders will face Cary and Felton Grove on the road, then Grace Christian at home.
Women’s Basketball
The women’s basketball team played in two important matchups. The Crusaders lost a close game against Seaforth with a final score of 55-45.
Gibbons then went to face Sanderson on the road. The Crusaders had a more favorable matchup this time, winning 55-33.
The Crusaders will hope to find success in the final stretch of the season, as more conference games loom.
