Since the middle of October, there has been a new addition to the Cardinal Gibbons library. Our librarian, Mr. Tripp Reade has taken it upon himself to program and set up a self-checkout book kiosk.
It’s on at all times of the day and it only takes about 10 seconds to login, check out, and logout. The self-checkout kiosk can be easily located next to the learning labs in the library with a bright sign that’s hard to miss.
Reade has ensured that students could checkout with ease by testing the new program on current students.
Ever since May of 2023, when Mrs. Terri Ingraham retired, Reade took the role as head and only librarian. This meant that when Reade is not present at school or could not be found in his office, students were not able to check out books.
This occurrence was repetitive, which frustrated Reade and he knew it needed a fix. With Dr. Rodolfo Argueta’s help, they programmed a computer to serve the sole purpose of checking out books, making sure it’s always charged and on.
“I just want students to be able to check out a book whenever they please,” Reade said, “without running around trying to find me.”
Reade is working on making the library better and more modern each day. He encourages all students to take advantage of the new self-checkout kiosk.
