Grab your popcorn—it’s time to support your fellow peers performing in the Gibbons Drama productions! This year, Gibbons Drama is presenting not one, but two shows in the fall: “Radium Girls” and “She Loves Me.”
“Radium Girls”
About The Show:
Inspired by a true story, “Radium Girls” centers on the young women working in radium dial factories in the 1920s, painting watch faces with self-luminous radium paint. These women — often teenagers — were told the paint was harmless and encouraged to use their lips to bring their brushes to a fine point. At the time, radium was considered a miracle, and its dangers were largely unknown – or ignored.
The play follows Grace Fryers, a dial painter who takes pride in her work. However, as she and her co-workers begin to suffer mysterious and devastating illnesses, Grace becomes determined to seek justice.
