On April 9, Cardinal Gibbons will be hosting their annual College Fair. This tradition has been significant for students of all ages and attending is highly recommended.
College fairs are a great way for students in all grades to learn about many different colleges. Hundreds of schools are invited, and Cardinal Gibbons is visited by nearly 60 schools almost every year.
Being located in close proximity to colleges like N.C. State, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Duke. This event allows students to learn about schools further away, as well as get a feel for what kind of colleges they’d be interested in attending after high school.
This event is helpful not only for juniors who are starting the process of applying for colleges but also for those freshmen and sophomores who want a head start on their college journey.
“It’s a great opportunity for juniors, but I think underclassmen should also attend because it’s giving them a taste of what’s out there when it comes to colleges,” Ms. Maddy Cottle said. “There are more than 4,000 schools in the U.S. alone. There are just so many choices, so I think that it helps down the road to know what’s out there.”
For juniors specifically, they are right in the middle of researching the best fits for them after they graduate.
The college fair can help narrow down schools, as they can go and learn specific information about colleges from all over the country without hopping on a plane or taking an excruciatingly long car ride.
“They hopefully have a good list of schools where they’re planning to apply. So this is the time for juniors to be seriously sitting down and exploring what colleges they might want to apply to,” said Ms. Cottle.
