Cardinal Gibbons College Commit Interview – Jett Dooley

Cardinal Gibbons College Commit Interview - Jett Dooley

According to USA Today, Cardinal Gibbons High School is the 14th-best high school for student-athletes in the country. With this comes a large amount of student-athletes who go on to compete in college.

The Gibbons Globe sends out a questionnaire to our school’s commits to ask about their experience finding the right school and their recruiting process overall.

Jett Dooley

Class of 2025 | Swimming | Miami University (Ohio)

Jett Dooley, a swimmer from the class of 2025 at Gibbons, is set to pursue his athletic and academic dreams at Miami University, Ohio. He chose Miami over other prestigious universities, including Boston University, because he believes it offers the best programs to support his dream. “It had the best programs to help me become a pilot,” Dooley said.

Dooley says that Cardinal Gibbons “Helped me to know what type of team I wanted to be a part of.”

Dooley emphasized the importance of an Air Force ROTC program, strong team culture, and effective coaching in his decision. With these factors in mind, “Knowing that it takes time and patience” was one of the most helpful tips in Dooley’s recruitment. Going with he helpful tip of patience, Dooley wishes he had worried less about the timing of his process.

Dooley’s favorite part of his recruiting process was “going on official visits,” while his least favorite part was waiting for coaches to respond to his communications.

One piece of advice Dooley would give to future college recruits is to “Take your time and make sure you’re not just going to the best school but the best school for you,” he said.

Committing to Miami University, Ohio, has allowed Dooley to worry less about his senior year of high school and focus more on his bright future. Dooley looks forward most to swimming in college. Good Luck, Jett!
