Teacher of the Month: Ms. Domingos

Teacher of the Month: Ms. Domingos

Introducing our March Teacher of the Month…

Ms. Domingos!

Why Teach?

Ms. Domingos in her college years wasn’t always planning on becoming a teacher. As an English major she was toying with the idea of law school.

When the pandemic hit, she was working in her university’s writer studio (a place where students can receive feedback from papers). In this, she was working with international students whose second or third language was English.

Domingos met with these students once a week and this opened the option of her becoming a teacher.

“Meeting with them week after week and seeing their improvement got me thinking that it’s fun to work with other people to help them improve their ability to communicate and voice their thoughts and ideas.”

She then started looking into Masters programs for education, leading into a period of student teaching where it was confirmed that is what Domingos wanted to do in life.

Domingos said, “My whole life, my family had always said, ‘You’re gonna be a teacher’ and it turns out they were right.

Domingos’ family was her ultimate inspiration to pursue teaching.
