In 2026, Cardinal Gibbons is taking a journey abroad, offering students to indulge in Italy, Japan, and Western European cultures. These international trips allow students to engage with foreign history and traditions, and to experience an educational experience. Join us, and explore these countries while broadening our global perspectives.
Japan
This nine-day journey in Japan presents students with the opportunity to experience both spiritual and personal growth. By exploring Japanese culture, this trip pushes students out of their comfort zone, all while emphasizing the global values of faith, service, and leadership
Itinerary:
In collaboration with ACIS, this trip has an itinerary ready to provide students with a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Tokyo: Emperor’s Palace, Tokyo Sky Tree, Asakusa Temple, and Catholic Mass at the Franciscan Center.
Mount Fuji: Boat cruise, and mountain tram.
Kyoto: High school cultural exchange, Kiyomizu-dera Temple, Golden Pavilion, and Fushimi Shrine.
Osaka: Nara Park, Kasuga Shrine, Kuromon Market Hiroshima bullet train, and Hiroshima Peace Memorial.

This journey will take place from Thursday, Nov. 20 to Friday, Nov. 28. Registration opens Dec. 11 for rising seniors, December 12th for rising juniors, and Dec. 13 for rising sophomores. With any questions, email Mr. Durney.
Western Europe
The annual trip to Western Europe during mid-winter break gives the students to explore and connect with the cultures of multiple countries. In even years, students visit England and France (2026), and Germany and the Czech Republic in odd years (2027).
Itinerary:
Students will visit cities such as London, Normandy, and Paris. The main historical focus will be on World War II.
Destinations: London City Tour, Stonehenge, D-Day Beaches, Mt. St. Michel, Palace of Versailles, Paris City Tour, London Theater Show, and French Cooking Lesson.
Italy
This journey to Italy will take place during Easter Break. Students will have the opportunity to experience the culture and history of Western civilization while touring this country.
Itinerary:
City of Rome
Thursday: Travel day
Friday: The Eternal City, St. Peter’s Square, Vatican Gift Shop, Priscilla Catacombs, night walk to Piazza Navona.
Saturday: Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s, the Coliseum, St. Peter in Chains Church, Trevi Fountain gelato.
Sunday: Easter Mass at St. Peters, the Pantheon, St. Ignatius, an evening stroll to the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo.
City of Assisi
Monday: Assisi, St. Francis’ Basilica, tomb, and Giotto’s frescoes.
Cities Florence and Lucca-
Tuesday: Tour of Florence, the Academia with Michelangelo’s David, the Duomo, a tour of a leather shop and goldsmith, a tour of Santa Croce, Lucca, dinner view of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.
City of Venice
Wednesday-Friday: Explore the canals and use the aquatic roads, gondola ride, tour a glass factory, play soccer on a turf field (Gibbons tradition), stay on the Lido, and then boat ride to the airport.
