Over the past couple of weeks you may have noticed the new athletics TV screen to the right of the gymnasium doors. This TV was installed in October, and it highlights the history, hall of fame, and achievements of our school’s athletics program. Athletics Director Tonya Holmes is heavily responsible for this TV’s existence.
“The idea for the touch screen TV has been in the works for over a year,” Holmes said. “A few challenges arose during this project, including delays in deliverables, the difficulty of gathering and verifying historical facts, and sourcing photos and videos to enhance the content.”
This unique TV is now in full effect and is very informational and easy to navigate through.
The TV is not the only feature that was added in this location however, it is an addition to the Cardinal Gibbons “Hall of Fame Wall”, as well as the Wells Fargo/Wachovia Cup display which celebrates the 18 Wells Fargo Cup which is awarded to the best overall interscholastic sports programs in the four classifications.
“The TV will serve as an excellent resource to enhance education and support the traditions and history of Gibbons athletics,” Holmes said. “It will also allow us to celebrate and recognize achievements in real time.”
This is necessary because our school is widely known for our outstanding athletics program, so it gives us a way to celebrate the present as well as the history of our schools athletics.
The athletics TV is a great tool for any student to use to learn more about the history of our school’s sports and you could even learn something about our school’s traditions.
“Our goal with the TV is to educate the community and highlight our athletic accomplishments, preserving our history for future generations. By showcasing our athletes’ and team’s achievements, we not only celebrate their success but also inspire and strengthen the community,” Holmes said.
Make sure to check out the Athletics TV and Athletics wall, right outside of the Father Price Gym.
