At Cardinal Gibbons, the house point system is a new tradition that brings students together through friendly competition. The school is divided into four houses: Notre Dame, Franciscan, Dominican, and St. Monica. Each house competes during the year to earn the most points for their assigned house.
The main way to get points is by attending house point events, which are announced throughout the semester. These events include football games, soccer games, Spirit Week activities, and more. When you go to a house point event, you scan the QR code at the event to earn points for your house.
“The first football game of the season was a house point event, students had to scan a QR code at the tailgate to get the word of the day to get points for their house,” said Ms. Paige Derouin, Dean of Students.
In addition to events, you can also earn points within your advisory pod. Each house has its own set of advisory pods, which include one pod each for freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Your pod participates in various activities to earn additional points for your house. These activities are designed to build teamwork and allow students from different grades to bond while contributing to their house’s success.
To be updated about house point events, students should listen to the Gibbons News Network (GNN) and follow the Gibbons Instagram page. These platforms regularly advertise upcoming events, so you’ll never miss an opportunity to earn points for your house.
At the end of the semester, the house with the most points wins an amazing reward: a full week of free dress down! This prize motivates students to participate, cheer on their teams, and show their school pride.
The house point system is a great way to connect with others, support school events, and celebrate the spirit of Cardinal Gibbons. So, whether you’re in Notre Dame, Franciscan, Dominican, or St. Monica, get involved, show up, and earn points for your house!
