According to USA Today, Cardinal Gibbons High School is the 14th-best high school for student-athletes in the country. With this comes a large amount of student-athletes who go on to compete in college.
The Gibbons Globe sends out a questionnaire to our school’s commits to ask about their experience finding the right school and their recruiting process overall.
Lexi Mullahy
Class of 2025 | Women’s Lacrosse | University of Michigan
Lexi Mullahy is a senior midfielder for the women’s lacrosse team and part of the impressive women’s lacrosse 2025 class. Mullahy is committed to the University of Michigan to further her education and lacrosse career and a top recruit in the country following her two sisters paths of playing Division I lacrosse.
Mullahy’s sisters, who also went to Gibbons, continued their education as well as lacrosse careers at Harvard University. Mullahy however chose to go to school and play lacrosse at Michigan. Mullahy said she chose Michigan because of “the atmosphere and connection with the team, along with the coaches and the academics.”
Mullahy attributes Gibbons with helping her find the right school as her coach Patricia Alexander, college counselor, and advisor all helped her. Another thing that Mullahy found helpful to her recruiting process was “Being ready for calls and having notes written down and also writing notes for calls and asking important questions”
Mullahy’s favorite part of the recruiting process was the night of September 1st (when college recruitment opens) and getting calls and texts from different coaches.
Mullahy said that she would like kids entering or in the recruiting process to take it step by step.
“It is not fun or easy like everyone says but once you’ve reached the commitment point it feels like a weight being lifted off your shoulders,” she said in a written response. “Also going into the process with an open mind and sort of a reality check so you don’t get upset with what happens. But enjoy it too because it’s one of the coolest moments of your life when all of these schools want you and all your hard work begins to feel worth it.”
Lexi looks forward to being in a different state and living on her own, and playing at a higher level with new people. Good Luck Lexi!
