Club Spotlight: Care 4 Crusaders

At Gibbons, everyone’s a part of a community. Whether it’s through clubs, sports, or just classes, everyone is willing to give each other a helping hand. That’s what Care 4 Crusaders is, a club designed to give students a chance to lift their fellow Crusaders up in a time of need.

“Care 4 Crusaders is a group that does intentional acts of kindness for those in our own community,” said the president of the club, Charlotte Medlin. “Care 4 Crusaders strives to do acts of kindness that make people feel special, uplifts them, encourages them, and recognizes them.”

This club is there for anyone who has been noticed to be in need, or that might just need a helping hand with something. There are many students and even faculty around Gibbons that benefit from this club.

This club has made many memories together. From making cards for people, to doing kind acts for teachers, there’s something everyone can do to help make someone feel better if they’re having a bad day.

When asked what her favorite memory from the club has been, Medlin said Flower Fest.

“We went to Trader Joe’s and got some great flowers, and had students come by and make bouquets of flowers for teachers.” she said.

Another member of the club, Abby Gissel, said that her favorite memory was a Halloween meeting they did.

“I think one of my favorite memories would be the Halloween one that we recently did. We did a candy counting competition. There was M&M’s and Reese’s, and they were both in a jar, and if you guessed the amount of candy in the jar you could keep the candy. We also still wrote cards for those in our Gibbons community, and it honestly just really fun and nice to have that moment with everyone,” said Gissel.

Medlin also said that at this meeting they made goodie bags for teachers that students could vote on. She said that a new thing that the club has started doing is who is the most impactful teacher of the month.

“Students are pulled and asked who the most impactful teacher in their life has been recently, and then the teacher who is said the most is presented with a certificate,” said Medlin.

This club is very helpful within the Gibbons community with how it helps others in their times of need, which is a good way to help out everyone.
