Why 'Family Football Night' changed to 'Friday Night Lights Fan Festival'

Family Football Night is usually a popular night at Cardinal Gibbons. With all the fun activities like face painting and tailgating before the game so many people are having fun. But what if the name changed?

Well it did. Family Football Night is now the Friday Night Lights Fan Festival. Now you might wonder, why was the name changed? What other changes were there?

“We are moving it to the campus green and making it a big, fun festival event so that no one feels excluded and it feels like more of a community-centered event,” Ms. Charlee Monroe said.

Many people in the Gibbons community love coming to events like this. But for some people, it might seem weird, especially if your old school didn’t do stuff like this.

“Today we are pulling kids from more than just private schools, more than just public schools, schools from all over,” Ms. Monroe said. “So we wanted to make it feel more like a community event.”

Now you might wonder, what changed about the night? Well, not much. There were still fun activities to do with friends and food for everyone.

“The reason we’re moving it to the other side of campus is so that all the students can get together, everyone’s treated the same,” Ms. Monroe said. “We’re going to have games, food trucks, and a bunch of fun things for everyone.”

The change was made to be more inclusive for students whose middle school doesn’t tailgate here. Now, with everyone given the same opportunities for before the game, more people will hopefully feel included.
