Cardinal Gibbons College Commit Interview - Tinaye Mavindidze

Tinaye Mavindidze

Class of 2025 | Men’s Soccer | Coastal Carolina University

Tinaye Mavindidze is currently committed to Coastal Carolina University to pursue his dreams of playing collegiate soccer. He is a senior at Cardinal Gibbons High School, and is looking to lead the men’s varsity soccer team to their 10th state championship title.

Mavindidze considered several in-state schools, but ultimately has decided to attend Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C., next fall.

“I felt a special connection with the campus when I went on my official visit. I also grew a great relationship with the coaching staff,” Mavindidze said. “They were like family to me” he also said.

For Mavindidze, his faith was a big part of his recruitment process. He prayed over his decision a lot to make sure he would choose the right school. He also really wanted to make sure that he and his family felt the same way about the school. According to Mavindidze, the most helpful piece of recruiting information he received was to “Keep your grades as best as possible because everything else will take care of itself.”

Mavindidze also wants the student-athletes that will eventually be recruited to know is “Do not disregard some of the lower-level schools. Every school that recruits you should take the same no matter the division (or) level.”

One thing Mavindidze would have done differently was not stress over the process so early because everything will work itself out eventually.

According to Mavindidze, going to Coastal Carolina “Has better prepared me to just step my game in the field and in the classroom.”

In college, Mavindidze is most looking forward to playing in front of new crowds, and the freedom of college. Good luck, Tinaye!
