Cardinal Gibbons College Commit Interview – Brown Parker

Cardinal Gibbons College Commit Interview - Brown Parker

According to USA Today, Cardinal Gibbons High School is the 14th-best high school for student-athletes in the country. With this comes a large amount of student-athletes who go on to compete in college.

The Gibbons Globe sends out a questionnaire to our school’s commits to ask about their experience finding the right school and their recruiting process overall.

Brown Parker

Class of 2025 | Men’s Lacrosse | Hampden-Sydney College

Brown Parker is a senior midfielder for the varsity men’s lacrosse team at Cardinal Gibbons High School. He has recently committed to Hampden-Sydney College to further his education and athletic journey. Parker chose Hampden-Sydney because he loved the culture, campus, and academics. Some of the most important factors in Parker’s decision were “where the school was, the education/alumni network”

Parker says that Cardinal Gibbons helped him in the recruiting process by being a  “big name school with great competition along with the coaches.”

The most important piece of information that helped Parker throughout his process was to look at aspects of the school not involving sports. One recruiting fact that Parker found unhelpful was that going  Division I is “the only way to go.” Parker’s favorite part of the recruiting process was, “The day I committed and I was happy where I was going.”

Parker says his least favorite part of the recruiting process was, “The stress of talking to coaches and trying to be noticed.”

Parker wants to advise kids going through or about to go through the recruiting process to take their time and not put too much stress on themselves. However, they should also be very detailed about what they want in a school because that is where they will be for the next four years.

Parker says his commitment has better prepared him for the future because it “Helps me focus on what I want and how to make the right decision during big moments of my life.

In college, Parker looks forward to learning how to live on his own, while also having a great time and meeting new people. Good Luck, Brown!
