Junior year is full of milestones to look forward to, like prom, junior ring mass, or simply going off campus for lunch, but it also comes with a preformed stereotype.
For high schoolers, junior year has long been known for college preparation, all-night cramming for tests, and academic burnout. While some of this may be true, and many students do experience this, Gibbons does an excellent job of walking alongside all students.
This Wednesday is the annual Junior Jumpstart and a Mini College Fair. This evening, hosted by the Gibbons College Counseling team, is a night meant to ease the stress and anxiety of the year ahead, providing parents and students with information, advice, and guidance. Gibbons will also be hosting many colleges that will be available throughout the evening for families to browse and ask questions.
The following colleges that will be attending are:
- University of Alabama
- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
- University of North Carolina at Wilmington
- University of North Carolina at Asheville
- Elon University
- University of Tennessee
- East Carolina University
- University of South Carolina
- Xavier University (Ohio)
- Loyola Maryland
- High Point University
- Meredith College
Unable to Attend?
No worries if you are unable to attend! The presentation slides shown will be published for the public. Junior parents are also invited and encouraged to attend the Junior Parent Counselor Conversation on Sept. 15. Register with the link shared in the Gibbons Weekly newsletter.
While all this information sounds intimidating as the school year has just begun, college counselors and educators strongly encourage junior parents and students to take advantage of these opportunities and resources they are offering. The college counseling team is here to help you or your child in this rigorous decision-making process; let them be there for you!
